Fern L. Cozad
Celebration of Life memorial services for Fern L. Cozad, 76, of Champaign, will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Fountain of Life Family Fellowship, Tolono. Pastor Ken Young will officiate.
Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, is assisting the Cozad family.
Mrs. Cozad died at 8:05 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. She was born May 30, 1931, in Farmer City, Illinois, a daughter of Leo and Ola (Vance) Swallow.
She married Roy E. Cozad in 1957. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Gregory E. Cozad, of Sadorus, Terry E. Cozad, of Centralia, and Timothy L. Cozad, of Mahomet; two daughters, PatLyn Jameson, of Georgetown, and Diana S. Velazquez of Lafayette, Indiana; two brothers, Ralph Swallow, of Sarasota, Florida, and Carl W. Swallow of LeRoy, Illinois; one sister, Nora E. Thompson, of Gibson City, Illinois; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly, Jessica, Shannan, Joshua, Kyle, Randi, Heath, Harlee, David, Erica, and Aarron; and nine great-grandchildren, Savara, Max, Kailyn, Isaac, Daniel, Nick, Alice, Julio, and Paul.
She was preceded in death a daughter, two brothers, a grandchild, and a great-grandson.
Mrs. Cozad worked at the Robeson’s Department Store Luncheonette in downtown Champaign for over 40 years where she made all the pies. After the store closed, she was employed in food service with Champaign Unit 4 Schools for over 10 years, retiring in 2001. She was a graduate of Moore High School, Farmer City.
Mrs. Cozad’s hobbies included bowling, working with crafts, sewing, gardening, cooking, and making appetizers for holidays. She was especially known for making popcorn balls for many occasions. She loved her pets.
