Secondly, the Webers request that anyone who loved David honor his memory by going out of their way to bring a smile to someone else every day just as David brought so many smiles during his short life.

Condolences

Phil and Rachel,

I wish I knew the words to ease your pain. Unfortunately, words fail at a time like this. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

For the family of David Weber:

I first saw David’s story in the News-Gazette back in January when there was an article about the search for a liver donor. I was particularly touched by the story because I have a young son myself and because of David’s beautiful smile in the accompanying picture. I was leaving for vacation the next day, but added to my “to do list” to request to apply to see if I was a potential match as a donor when I returned. Two weeks later, I was talking about the story at work and found out one of my co-workers, Dawn Berg, knew David’s parents. Dawn and I both called to request to be added to the donor list, but by the time my call went through, the list was already filled to the point they were not taking more names—a testament to the amazing effect David has on people! Dawn started sharing the blog David’s father was writing with me, and I have been reading regularly.

I just wanted to write because I was so touched by David’s story from the beginning to the end of the chapter here on Earth. Though I cannot fathom why such a beautiful young life was taken so, so early, I know there is another angel, one with the warmest smile, looking down on us. Because of David and his story, I truly will make an effort to bring at least one smile to another person each day!

May God bless you and be by your sides always.

With deepest sympathy,

Kathy Martensen
