Memorial Services for Joyce L. Wilkey, 81, of Urbana, will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign.

Bennie Williams will officiate.

Mrs. Wilkey died at 11:05 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

She was born August 3, 1927, in Grayville, Illinois, a daughter of Sylvester and Agnes Lucretia (Wells) Jordan. She was raised by Edwin and Alta Mae Wells.

She married Carl E. Wilkey on June 28, 1943, at St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1996.

Mrs. Wilkey is survived by a sister, Thelma Hart, of Lincoln, Illinois. She was preceded in death by a son, James Edwin Wilkey, and a sister, Dorothy Schroeder.

She is a graduate of Champaign High School; and before her retirement, she was employed as a storekeeper at Illinois Power Company.

Mrs. Wilkey was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She loved flowers, especially the purple iris. She gave her dog, “Dolly,” great care. She also enjoyed home decorating, collecting dogs, birds, and unique glassware.
