Maurice L. Darling, 84, of Urbana, passed away at 3:40 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Champaign County Nursing Home.

Burial will be in West Lebanon Cemetery, West Lebanon, Indiana, at a later date. Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign, is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born March 21, 1927, in Champaign, a son of Virgil L. and Grace (Hobart) Darling.

Before his retirement he was employed as a clerk with the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board. He served his country in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Darling was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

He is survived by a niece, Georgia Johnson, of Daggett, Michigan; a great-niece, Heather Bervinkle, of Corpus Christi, Texas; a great-nephew, Mark Zuern, of Marinette, Wisconsin, and two great-great-nieces.
