Today is

John R. Evers

Beloved son, brother and friend, John R. Evers, 48, of Champaign, passed away everssometime between July 31 and Aug. 14, 2011 at his home. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service is planned for November, his birth month, somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida.  Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born Nov. 10, 1962 in Passaic, N.J., the son of Edward A. Evers and Dorothy Stanwycks (Evers) Wagoner.
He is survived by his parents, of Moonachie, N.J. and Brooksville, FL, a sister Carol (Evers) Ellis and brother Ed Evers, both of Champaign, and brothers Thomas and Bill Evers, each of Atlanta, GA.

John’s passion was baking and decorating.  He attended the Culinary Institute of America (C.I.A.), N.Y., where he trained to become a professional pastry chef.  John was uniquely talented in his craft, as well as demonstrating skills in the realms of gardening and landscaping and home renovation. However, his life was ended far too soon by complications from diabetes and alcoholism. Another gifted individual's life cut short by addiction.

In lieu of flowers and cards, please consider a donation to your local Substance Abuse Treatment Center.

Dear Ed and Family,

We read with sadness the tragic farewell you have faced. How very hard this must be for each of you. We pray the Holy Spirit will bring you comfort as you hang on to all we have been given in the promises of Baptism, the hope of eternal reunion some day.

Sympathy in Christ,
Jim and Carol Manley
