Celebration of Life services for Margaret Rose “Peggy” Miner, 80, of Champaign, will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign. The Rev. Donna Smith will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana, at a later date.
Mrs. Miner passed away at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
She was born April 13, 1931, in Champaign, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Winn) Watson. She married Phillip T. Miner on Aug. 29, 1953, in Champaign. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Miner was employed as a telephone operator at the University of Illinois. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5520 in Champaign, and a member of the Champaign County Ladies Home Extension.
Her hobbies included knitting and working crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Miner is survived by a son, Phillip E. Miner, of Champaign; a step-daughter, Linda Young, of Lyndon Station, Wis., two step-grandchildren, Shawn (wife Connie) Young, of Clear Lake, Wis., and Samantha Young, of Pleasanton, Calif.; one step-great-granddaughter, Madeline Young, of Clear Lake, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Duba, of Winter Park, Fla., and Mary Scott, of Mahomet; two cousins, Rick (wife Dixie) Hillbrant, of Champaign, and Jim (wife Dorothy) Hustable, Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Richard Eastin, of Foosland; many nieces and nephews, and a coffee buddy, Patty Evans, of Champaign.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society, 1911 E. Main St., Urbana, IL 61802-2857.
