Lewis Michael Taylor

Lewis Michael Taylor, 67, of Champaign, passed away at 3:41 michael taylora.m., Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign. Visitation will be one hour before the service.

Mr. Taylor was born May 25, 1942, in Champaign, the son of Lewis M. and Pauline (Miller) Taylor. He married Linda S. Bosstick-Turnbaugh on Dec. 18, 1993, in Arthur, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Tim Taylor, of Bloomington, and Shawn Taylor (Debbie), of Springfield; a daughter, Michelle Smith (Richard), of Normal; three step-sons, Jeremy Turnbaugh, of Arthur, Luke Turnbaugh, of Mattoon, and Clayton Turnbaugh (Heather) of Sullivan; one sister, Pauline L. Matthews, of Lawton, Okla.; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his beloved cat, Bobbi.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Cord Michael Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was employed by the Caterpillar Company in Decatur as an auditor. He was a member of the UAW and the Corvette Club of Illinois.

He enjoyed boating, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, jet skiing, and collecting guns. He was known for his love of animals.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Taylor’s name may be made to the Provena Covenant Hospice program.

We are sorry for your loss. I enjoyed my brief friendship with Mike and will hold him in my heart for a long time. We can take comfort in knowing the Mike is in a much better, pain free, peaceful place. I feel blessed to have known him.
