How’s Your DASH Going?

Over a decade ago Linda Ellis’ poem, “The Dash,” was recited on a syndicated radio program. To her surprise it became an instant meteoric success. Calls to tell Linda how her words touched their hearts made “The Dash” an enduring phenomenon.

The “Dash” Linda refers to is the little line etched into a headstone we see in cemeteries; for example, 1942 – 2000 between the dates of our brith and our passing. That little line represents each step we take on earth … and every single breath. It represents all our time on earth and only those who love us know what that little line is worth.

At Heath & Vaughn we know that little line is the “story” part of our life, not the beginning or the ending but “The Dash.” We simply don't believe in funerals. We believe in telling those that love you all about your “Dash.” We do Dashes, not funerals. Telling about your Dash is what makes us different. After all, you’re different. Why shouldn’t your dash be?
