Gary M. Wright
Celebration of Life Memorial Services for Gary M. Wright, 63, of Champaign, will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, 210 W. Church, Champaign.
The Rev. Mary Brady will officiate.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign.
Mr. Wright passed away at 4:15 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. He was born March 25, 1946, in Champaign, a son of Gale and Juanita (Fuller) Wright. He married Susan K. Riemer on Aug. 17, 1983, in Champaign. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gary Thomas Wright, of Urbana; three daughters, Kelly Wood, of Tennessee, Amy Wright and Mona Wright, both of Champaign; and two sisters, Sue Kelley, of Peoria, and Kathy Wright, of Urbana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David Wright and James Wright.
Mr. Wright began his law enforcement career in July, 1967 with the Champaign Police Department. He was promoted in 1972 to the investigations division, where he solved numerous serious felonies. He retired in January, 1996 as a patrol sergeant. After his retirement he worked for Rogards Office Plus in Champaign.
His hobbies included auto racing.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Champaign.
