Hertha “Lou” Vandiver, 93, died on October 11, 2026 at her residence, Autumn Fields of Savoy.
She was born in Urbana to Charles and Eunice Lewis Bowman. She graduated from University High School. She married Harold “Bud” Vandiver on December 1, 1951. Lou later earned a BS degree at Eastern Illinois University. She worked as an administrative assistant for International Programs at the University of Illinois and retired after 35 years of service.
She was an avid reader and also enjoyed researching genealogy. She and Bud spent time traveling to many parts of the world.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She is survived by her husband, her brother, William Bowman and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services were held at Mt Hope Cemetery, Champaign.
