Mary Deak, 77, died Saturday (Oct. 14, 2023) at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center.
Mary was born on Nov. 2, 1945, in Monticello, to George and Thelma Burton McClellan. She graduated from Urbana High School and attended Parkland College. She married Frank Deak on Nov. 10, 1962. He died in October 2006.
Mary was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the African Violet Flower Association. Her hobbies included genealogy and movie nights at VIrginia Theater.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Stella Louise McClellan and Diana Bosserman; and a brother, Ronald McClellan.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria (Howard) Brownfield of Champaign; son, Ference Deak of Champaign; three grandchildren, Joseph Brownfield, Maria Evans and Samantha Brownfield; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be on Friday, Oct. 20, at Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm St., Champaign. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with the service at noon, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
