There’s a new star in the sky tonight Paul Dean Thompson,82, of Sidney passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital on February 28, 2022, at 6:50 pm. Paul was born May 31, 1939 at home in St. Joseph Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Madge Thompson, his sister “Sis” Norma Jean Clark. He is survived by his brother William(Arleigh)Thompson of Oakwood.
He also is survived by his beloved wife Peggy of 21 years. Paul leaves behind his cherished children Debbie (Joe) Johansen, William Thompson, Sarah Mullins, Emily(Jason)Smith, and Elizabeth (Justin) Whalen-Dillman. Paul has 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and lots of other “children” he loved and cared for over the years. Paul worked as a Union Operating Engineer for 50 years and retired in 2001 from Imperial Concrete of Champaign. Paul enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating. He loved spending time with his family and helping others. There was never a challenge he couldn’t overcome. There will be no memorial services at this time.
